I had a great time back home for semester break at the start of April. Six weeks of no riding certainly made me feel out of place and unfit in the saddle but it was good to be back behind some ears. Whilst I was home I squeezed in a quiet training day at Woodhill with Dynamic RF for her first ridden outing.
Esther Thompson moved into our house and will be taking over managing the farm & my youngsters whilst running her own business starting horses under saddle. It's a big relief having somebody knowledgeable around to take care of things and certainly make me feel much happier knowing everything back home is it good hands. Esther will be taking in a limited number of client horses for starting under saddle - get in touch with her if you have a youngster ready to be booked for starting. She is already doing such a great job with starting our three year old Countessa RF.
My holiday period finished up with saying farewell to one of our oldest homebreds Chiquita RF (6yo Cartell GNZ out of Optimistic NZPH) who sold to a perfect local home. Then it was back off to Palmerston North - this time with Dynamic RF coming down too - life just ain't the same without horses present! It has been great having her around as a break from study each day!
As May draws an end I am approaching the end of semester with the last two days of lectures before I head home for study break prior to exams (which lucky for me are all online so I get to do them all back in Auckland!). This month was an exciting one with the settlement of my first home down here in Palmerston North. I love having my own place and it's only 5 minutes away from where Dynamic is grazing. Last weekend we headed over to Fielding to compete in her first competition which she coped with well - now looking forward to a few more outings over June/July whilst we are back in Auckland.
Very much looking forward to being back home and seeing all the youngsters. Watch out for some updated photos and videos of them all as they are all ready & available for new homes.
