Competition Season Round Up

Competition Season Round Up

My first full season back competing in a fair while finished up at Taupo last week. It's been awhile since I've been jumping properly so it was pretty exciting collecting some rewarding results in the last half of the season with my special team.

When I started the season I certainly didn't imagine the things I would achieve. Being able to sit onboard three wonderful homebred horses is pretty exciting and I already can't wait to see what we get up to over winter and next season.

Highlights:

Dynamic RF (6yo) - although we didn't get out to overly many shows Dyna helped bring my joy of jumping back as we stepped up the heights together. Picking up a couple placing at her last show in February was exciting and she finished with her biggest round at 1.05-1.10m

Burley RF (5yo) - after spending the first half of the season based with Logan Massie he returned home after Young Horse show and was gelded in January. This proved to be the best decision - now leaving me with one awesome horse to compete. With a very short turn around we were out competing by February and managed a very exciting 6th at Horse of the Year in the 5YO class, and won the 5YO style class at Waitemata. Whilst not the easiest in the warm up he has given me so much confidence in the ring and got me back up to 1.10-1.20m which I haven't done in a fair while!

Countessa RF (4yo) - Tessa blew me away with her first show outings ticked off in January. She headed to Takapoto in February where she jumped super on the first day for 6th in the 4YO class. She has been on a break since then and now getting back to action for winter outings. This is certainly an exciting horse to watch out for.

Whilst the season might be over things are certainly not slowing down around here! The girls have already had their break and ready to ramp things up for winter shows, while Burley will have a quiet period before getting back out. The 3yos have returned to work also bringing the tally up to 7 in work which is sure to keep me busy over the coming months!
