Just before Christmas we said a gutting goodbye to Ella as she heads on her next adventure back in the UK. Ella has been a key part of our team ensuring that everything ran smoothly whilst I was away during semester times. It isn't easy heading off to uni and leaving everything behind, but with Ella I knew everything was under control and being managed just as if I was there. It will be a strange feeling not having her around in the new year! In the meantime our search has begun for our next special member of the team although there are certainly some big shoes to fill...
The rest of December has been a busy one with more foals on the ground, and scanning commencing with 3 lots of frozen AI ticked off so far and our first confirmed pregnancy. Our new IgG rapid analyser has been put to the test and came in real handy with two weekend-born foals.
We also have a new addition to our facilities with a set of cross ties being completed just before Christmas. This is going to be very helpful for juggling horses in the mornings when they are waiting to be worked, and will be fantastic for teaching the youngsters to cross tie with the safety of a back wall to prevent pull backs.
On an exciting but also sad note my special boy Burley has found himself a home in China which will be a tough goodbye when he departs.
